BAE Systems Australia product restructure
Challenge
BAE Systems Australia's public-facing product suite had become inaccurate and disorganised. The content hadn't been updated in years and no longer reflected the company's actual offerings. This mattered: the product pages were the main portal for government contract contacts and major defence stakeholders. In a $1.1B+ organisation known for deep silos and slow-moving processes, getting alignment on a restructure would be difficult.
Process
I travelled to BAE's headquarters in Adelaide to interview stakeholders in person. In an organisation this siloed, relationships had to be built face-to-face before anyone would share information or agree to changes.
I cut across internal boundaries to develop a structure all stakeholders could accept. This required understanding each division's priorities and finding a framework that served everyone's needs without compromising clarity for external audiences.
I then managed both an external agency and internal BAE resources to update all copy, personally copy-editing every page before publication. Finally, I led the publication process through their legacy systems.
Outcome
Restructured and published approximately 20 product pages across multiple categories
Delivered in approximately 6 months, fast for an organisation of this size and complexity
Created a coherent public-facing product suite for government and defence stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to navigate highly siloed, security-conscious environments
